The good people at Caliber Armor have gone above and beyond to bring you steel body armor of a HIGHER CALIBER.. This can be seen with their bend process, fragmentation coating and finishing details.
Steel Body Armor provides great protection that can stop multiple projectile hits. Caliber Armor has worked with different levels of abrasion resistant (AR) ballistic steel for years and have not found a better product than their AR550 Steel Body Armor Plates. This armor is rated at a level III+ as it can defeat special threats like M855 rounds.
All of the Caliber Armor steel plates come in one ergonomic curve option. They have worked with LE and first responders to design a curve that you can be comfortable wearing. This is provided at no additional cost to you! The unique way Caliber Armor bends their steel is important too. They have designed a press that creates a multi curve bend in ONE step. Why is this important? When you do multiple bends to achieve a multi curve, it puts extra strain on the plate which can weaken it. Caliber Armor have replicated the same curves that you have seen in multi curve ceramic armor for years.
These are available in Aggressive Shooters Cut and SAPI style cut. The Aggressive Shooters Cut body armor plates shaves off weight while still providing enough coverage to protect your vital organs. This cut mimics the traditional “swimmers cut “ we all love however offers a bit more coverage.
The SAPI style plate offers a fuller coverage and is closer to what most call a traditional “shooters cut” These will offer the most amount of coverage while still allowing ease of movement. Use Caliber Armor’s CaliberX™ Soft Armor Backers for even more protection and comfort on either style than the same cut in another brand.
One concern with any Steel Armor is fragmentation (aka spalling) containment. Some of that fragmentation is contained in the plate carrier, but there still is a risk of lethal shrapnel. Caliber Armor has teamed up with their friends at Bullet Liner® to formulate an anti-spall coating specifically for their armor application. This addition to your steel plate gives you peace of mind when wearing steel armor.
